Cooktail was born from these premises. The book, published by Montagud Editores, presents 40 tapas created by chef Mario Sandoval (National Gastronomy Award winner) and another 40 cocktails created by bartender, consultant, and trainer Miguel Pérez and thirteen other leading mixologists in Spain. These include Carlos Moreno (StreetXo), Miguel Ángel Jiménez (Platea Madrid), Natalia García (Boca Chica), Yanaida Prado (Milano Cocktail-Bar), Mario Villalón (El Padre), Alberto Pizzaro (Bobby Gin), Ramón Parra (Inside Inn by Melià hotels), Giuseppe Baldi (The Banker's Bar at the Mandarin Oriental Barcelona), Manu Iturregui (Residence), Adrian Sehob (Punk Bach), Juan Valls (El Niño Perdido Cocktail Bar), Tatiana Pertegato (Boca), and Jordi Baqués (Mutis). Across its 256 pages, and in a bilingual Spanish and English edition, Cooktail tackles several challenges. On the one hand, Mario Sandoval showcases his talent for creating haute cuisine in miniature. The 40 tapas recipes in the book are much more than mere accompaniments to drinks. On the other, Miguel Pérez delves into the origins of flavors, proposing cocktails born from exploring the essence of each ingredient and meticulously studying the perfect execution and service. Both chef and bartender transcend the commonplace notion that there's more to life than wine.
